At Mindful Movement for Mana, we aim to empower tamariki and kaiako alike, to use te Reo Māori and Mindful Movement practice in a fun and interactive way. We believe that authentic connections to children’s funds of knowledge are how learning happens, therefor we celebrate familiarity with people, places and things and use this to sculpt each session to the unique centre.
We are able to tailor each session to local curriculum through waiata (song) and pūrākau (story telling), kēmu (games) and ha kinakina (physical movement) whilst helping Tamariki to discover their own tools to regulate and understand their own emotions to help cope with the ever-changing world that they are experiencing childhood in.
We also have a passion for supporting Kaiako with the overwhelming amount of paperwork by interweaving aspects of Te Whāriki (ECE curriculum) as well as supporting documents such as Te Whatu Pōkeka (Māori framework for assessment) and Tātaiako (cultural competency for teachers of Māori learners). This also helps to achieve Graduating Teacher Standards, as required for registration through the Teachers Council, further streamlining documentation requirements. Our passion for Early Childhood Education has led us to collate this body of work that we have seen counter many issues and enhance the lives of many young and vulnerable children and their whanau, as well as gifting enthusiasm back to the teachers of these young children.
